Music lovers were worse off by one of their favorite artists as Greg Kihn died aged 75 on August 13, 2024. Kihn is best remembered for being one of the founding musicians of pop-rock in the 1980s with popular and entertaining songs. In other words, many young people have lost the figure familiar since childhood, and for the music industry – one more misfortune.
A Musical Journeyman
Raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Kihn played music at a very young age. His folk/classic rock/blues/pop music was nothing completely new but it was nice and different at the same time. Going solo as The Greg Kihn Band, he created the classics “Jeopardy”, “The Breakup Song (You Always Take the Blame)” and “Loving You Is Easier Than Ever” which gave voice to a generation.
But Kihn was not just the author of such a hit; he was a shapeshifting musician who traveled through different musical genres. He was a great guitarist, singer and songwriter as well as a record producer, who made a great impression on the music of San Francisco Bay Area. Besides his music, he took part of it upon himself to teach and sponsor other young talented musicians.

A Legacy That Endures
Tracing the influences that Kihn has had on the popular culture is very easy, as the artist has always been in the news, coming up with novel creations. And his music to this day is still popular, which may allow attributing the phenomenon to the concept of eternal youth. But it is always a loss when we are deprived of such a God-gifted talent as he was, and his music still remains with us.
